Service and Tune-Up Packages
Basic Tune-up - $25
Everything stays on the bike, but is adjusted (lovingly) to spec. Includes adjustment of front and rear derailleurs and brakes, bottom bracket (if adjustable) and headset. The brake pads are scuffed to remove glaze, the chain and cables are lubed, all nuts and bolts are checked for tightness and the tire pressure is set correctly. This is an excellent basic tune up for bikes that don't get ridden often or hard, or a bike that has sat over the winter.
Standard Tune-up - $35
Same as the basic tune, but the wheels are pulled off the bike and trued (straightened), and the hubs are checked for correct adjusment. This is the tune up for someone who rides more often, but still recreationally.
Comprehensive Tune-up - $55
Same as the standard tune, plus the drive train components (cassette, chain, chainrings/crankset, derailleurs) are pulled off the bike and cleaned w/solvent. This is a great "once a year" tune-up for people who put some miles on thier bike on the road and off. Cleaning the drive train correctly greatly reduces wear to critical components.
Advanced Tune-up - $75
Same as the comprehensive tune, but the bike is stripped down to the frame and all critical components are checked inside and out for wear. The hubs and headset (and bottom bracket if adjustable) are disassembled, cleaned, repacked w/fresh grease, assembled and adjusted to spec. With the bike disassembled, cables/housing/bearings can be replaced for only the cost of parts.
Service Info
Any services can be added or performed ala carte (i.e. you need a set of wheels trued or built, or a specific component adjusted/replaced) but keep in mind it will always be less expensive if done within a tune up (as the adjustment of said part is probably included somewhere). The only work I’m staying away from at the moment is suspension fork and hydraulic disc brake system rebuilds as they require some specialized tools I don’t have at my disposal at this time. I can still adjust/service suspension forks to a point, as well as do normal maintenance to hydraulic disc brakes (replace pads, rotors, bleed and fill). I take an immense amount of pride in my work, and will never let a bike leave dirty, but please be considerate and don’t bring me little Jimmy’s bike covered in baseball sized clumps of mud.
